Dr. AAli is a guitarist based in the New York City metro-area.
He specializes in jazz, bossa nova, neo-soul, hip-hop, roots reggae, and everything else that sounds funky.
Originally from California, Dr. AAli relocated to the Tri-State area in 2017 in conjunction with his post as a sociologist at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. As a sociologist-musician, Dr. AAli writes and teaches about sociology alongside performing improvised music across NY and NJ.

As a solo performer, I present a hybrid sonic canvas of improvised guitar over hip hop. reggae, funk, and bossa nova beats and loops. The result is an eclectic array of guitar improvisation across multiple genres including funk, roots reggae, hip-hop, bossa nova, and neo-soul.
